The cooler, wetter weather last week has meant there is little heat stress in many of the grazing setups we are monitoring. Hot, sunny afternoons can be uncomfortably warm but the weekly averages are low so the cows can recover from such high temperatures.
I would hope summer is not over – warmer weather is being forecast for this week. As conditions start to get unpleasant in the grazing paddocks think how best to manage the mob. Can shaded fields be found or are cows best off housed and under cover in the hotter parts of the day.
